2017 Chevrolet Tahoe

The 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe was ranked the #1 affordable large SUV by usnews.com. It was also the winner of their 2017 best large SUV’s for families, and a finalist for their 2017 best large SUV for the money. The Chevrolet Tahoe offers lots of available technology for both the interior and exterior as well. It also offers a higher than average safety score from the NHTSA at a 4/5 score. The safety features offer lane keeping assistance, IntelliBeam headlights, safety alert seat, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.

Lane keeping assistance:

The Tahoe will recognize when the vehicle starts to drift away from the center of the lane and will turn the steering wheel to move the vehicle back to the center of the lane. Most lane keeping assistance systems will only work when both hands are on the steering wheel so it should not be used as a substitute to drive the vehicle for you.

IntelliBeam headlights:

What the system does is that if the Tahoe notices another vehicle approaching it turns on the high-beams. Now when is this useful? Let us say you are driving between cities and it is dark. There are only two lanes, and it is dark outside. When your eyes are used to seeing in the dark they may not have enough time to adjust if a car driving the opposite direction has their lights one and you may have to look away from the road or close your eyes. What IntelliBeam does is that it’ll put the high-beams on to make it easier to see if you have to look away and focus more on the road.

Safety Alert Seat:

If the vehicle senses a certain threat from a certain direction it will notify the driver. What will happen is that the Tahoe will vibrate the seat in the direction of where the danger may be, while also giving visual and auditory alerts. This is to help the driver determine where danger may be and if it something to worry about.

Automatic Emergency Braking:

The Tahoe monitors the vehicles in front of you and will give you a visual icon so you know the Tahoe can see the vehicle in front. When the system notices that you are in danger of a collision it will give you the driver warning, audibly, visually, and physically (via the alert seat). If it is sudden that you can not react with these alerts it will forcibly apply hard emergency braking or will enhance your own braking.
